Looking for some Karma?
kar⋅ma [kahr-muh] –noun
So what's all this about and what does it have to do with karma?
1. Hinduism, Buddhism. action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation: in Hinduism one of the means of reaching Brahman. Compare bhakti (def. 1), jnana.
2. Theosophy. the cosmic principle according to which each person is rewarded or punished in one incarnation according to that person's deeds in the previous incarnation.
3. fate; destiny.
4. the good or bad emanations felt to be generated by someone or something.
Well, selling is all about karma. We reap what we sew. We earn what we deserve. We are penalized for our bad deeds.
I've been selling online for over 20 years. In fact, 20 years ago, what I sold online was the very notion of "being online". Back in the late 80's, going "online" was not so easy. Figuring out what to do once you got there was even harder. So hard in fact that people wrote books about it - people like me.
I have watched the internet grow and expand and infiltrate almost every aspect of our lives. I've seen good things get better, and not so good things fade away. Maybe it's this long term and broad perspective that enables me to see some things a bit differently than other online sellers.
I don't claim to be an online selling genius, nor do I claim to have a Mercedes in my front yard paid for in cash from all my online profits. Those types of things do happen to some people - but it's usually by selling worthless books (and ebooks) about making millions on ebay or some other rubbish like that. If you are one of those people that know that the only reason any of those guys are selling ebooks is because "hype" it's the only thing they really know how to sell, then maybe they'll be something useful to learn here at Seller Karma.
I don't expect you to agree with everything I say - shoot, I might not agree with myself as time goes on. I am a pragmatist. I am always looking for the better way to do everything.
So your comments are welcome and encouraged.
What is not encouraged are whiners. Constant whining about ebay, about paypal, about buyers gets very old very quickly - and it doesn't help anyone. There are lots of places you can go to "vent" out your feelings and frustrations, but this isn't one of them.
This is a place for ideas and solutions for the every day online seller.
Thanks for stopping by!
